This is a modified version of the base game that adds a wide variety of features to the houses in Oldale Town in order to skip some of the grindier parts of the game, or to let the player simply mess around and have fun in whatever way they'd like. Sandbox patches over a clean Emerald ROM, just like the base game does. List of stuff available in the Sandbox edition: - The Battle Frontier no longer has a ban list, so you can take X-type puppets in now - Oldale now houses copies of certain postgame NPCs along with new ones, including: -- EV trainers (They've been removed from the Frontier because I'm lazy) -- Green UFO > Rare Candy exchange -- A shop that sells UFOs, Shards, and berries -- A shop that sells all TMs -- A shop that sells hold items (including Lucky Eggs and Soul Dew) -- Infinite access to a move tutor that teaches Sketch -- Infinite low-level double battles to easily create Sketch movepools -- A NPC that gives you one of every non-evolved puppet (124 in total!) --- Yes, this includes stuff like Rinnosuke, Chibi Kasen, Magic Stones, and the unique legendaries --- You can battle the unique legendaries, but if you capture 2hu in its event, it won't obey you - Certain puppets previously only available to the AI have been made obtainable: -- Evolved Yuyuko can now evolve into Ayakashi --- Ghost/Nature | 200 HP / 150 ATK / 100 DEF / 150 SATK / 100 SDEF / 20 SPEED | Pressure -- Evolved Suika can now evolve into MPSuika --- Earth/Dream | 255 HP / 255 ATK / 35 DEF / 50 SATK / 35 SDEF / 50 SPEED | Sand Stream --- At high levels with a boosting nature, Attack can wrap around to 0 if EV trained, so be careful -- Evolved Marisa can now evolve into EMarisa --- Wind/Fire | 10 HP / 200 ATK / 65 DEF / 200 SATK / 65 SDEF / 180 SPEED | Pure Power -- Kedama can now evolve into Satsuki --- Illusion | 150 HP / 50 ATK / 150 DEF / 50 SATK / 150 SDEF / 50 SPEED | Shadow Tag -- Tori can now evolve into VIVIT --- Steel/Flying | 100 HP / 80 ATK / 100 DEF / 120 SATK / 100 SDEF / 100 SPEED | Serene Grace -- 2hu can now evolve into Isami --- Water | 80 HP / 60 ATK / 80 DEF / 140 SATK / 100 SDEF / 140 SPEED | Water Absorb -- Tensoku can now evolve into Steven's TensokuG --- Steel/Flying | 160 HP / 150 ATK / 150 DEF / 60 SATK / 60 SDEF / 60 SPEED | Maintenance -- Ruukoto can now evolve into The Collector's Dark Last Word Ruukoto (does not have a shiny) --- Steel/??? | 150 HP / 50 ATK / 160 DEF / 120 SATK / 160 SDEF / 120 SPEED | Guard Armor --- The ??? type is immune to Fire, Miasma, Ice, Faith, and Earth --- Learns a special move upon evolution at level 5 --- This move hits Reason and Dark types for super effective damage --- All of these evolutions are via Chrome Shard --- None of them can learn moves after evolving without using the Sketch tutor --- EXP curves are unaffected, so they may change levels upon evolution Due to this, there are many more options available to the player at all points of the game, and barring a little grinding at the start to boost your money by trading Green UFOs for Rare Candy and selling them over and over, significantly less grinding required. Saves between the standard version and the Sandbox version are compatible as well, and nothing is stopping you from switching between the two if you want. Nothing else about the main game experience has changed. Mechanical aspects, such as the level curve, enemy movesets, and wild spawns, are the same - you will battle the same foes and run into the same wilds you normally would. No NPCs will berate you, no trainers are more difficult to battle, and nothing about the interface is different to make it obvious you're playing in Sandbox mode. I hope you are able to enjoy this option for a friendlier, more accessible experience, especially those of you who wish to play on an Android device or a modified 3DS and don't have access to speed up functions. Finally, if anybody gives you flak for opting to play this version over the original, tell them I said to get over themselves.
